Olive picking is a timeless, passion-filled tradition in Sicily where magnificent, centuries-old olive trees, grow contently and abundantly. Join three generations of the Ciulla family for a truly special week – harvesting olives with them in their stunning organic olive orchard in Sicily.
Olive picking starts in the second or third week of October. The day begins with a delicious breakfast around the family table, followed by a short walk to the olive orchards. Here you will spend time amongst the trees and wild-flowers with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
After the nets are laid out, the olive picking starts – a pleasant and fun experience punctuated with laughter, conversation and quiet reflection. As Sicilian food and wine is much celebrated and prized, there is ample time for a delicious picnic lunch under the shade of an olive tree; and – at the end of the day – a traditional three course meal at the farm house. At the end of the week you can choose to go to the olive pressing factor where you can see how your olives are turned into extra virgin oil.
The choice is yours. The process of picking olives is carried out at a laid back pace. You can choose how long you want to pick the olives for and for how many days. On the days that you want to relax you can visit the famous Valley of the Temples, unwind by the pool, or visit the many beautiful beaches nearby.
